Federation of All Trade and Industry Associations of Erode District has urged the corporation to include multi-level parking facility and outer ring road projects, under the Smart City Mission.
At its 13th executive committee meeting held here recently under its chairman T. Jegadeesan, resolutions highlighting various demands were adopted.
A resolution wanted the civic body to establish multi-level parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers as the city lacks parking space. It wanted outer ring road project to be taken up as traffic congestion has became a common problem in the city.
Also, it wanted 80 feet road to be established from Erode Railway Junction to Brough Road.
All the projects should be established under the Smart City Mission, the resolution added.
Also, it wanted the chairman of the federation to be made as a member of the smart city project planning committee.
Another resolution said that in the absence of parking facility at Nethaji Market area, vehicles are parked on the road disrupting movement of vehicles.
Hence, vacant space in the market premises should be used for parking by collecting fee. The resolution also urged the civic body to complete the road digging works at market areas as the Deepawali festival is nearing.
Another resolution wanted the federation members to be invited to express their opinion during meetings conducted by the Erode Local Planning Authority. Other resolutions wanted the 28% Goods and Service Taxes (GST) on various items to be removed completely while it wanted 18% GST to be levied on items like tobacco that pose health hazards.
